Program Sponsor: United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs International Visitor Leadership Program
The U.S. Department of State (DOS) is sponsoring an International Visitor Leadership Program project entitled “Preserving Iraqi Wetlands,” for Iraq, to be administered by World Learning and conducted from April 13 to May 1, 2015.
This project aims to expose participants to U.S. best practices in intra-state water resource management and water sharing between States and will include a specific focus on marshland preservation. Additionally, participants should learn how U.S. federal and state agencies engage and cooperate to overcome environmental challenges including water salinity, waste dumping, and pollution. The program also will focus on economic viability issues—how the U.S. uses its marshlands for tourism, seafood generation, social, educational and economic purposes. The itinerary will include: Washington, DC; New Orleans, LA; Las Vegas, NV; and Miami, FL.
