First day of the visit was dedicated to see Anconella water purification station at Florence, visiting all departments of the station in theory and practical, and then visiting the sections which pump and distribute the purified water to Florence. On the same day, the project team visited several officials of the city, including Caterina Biti (Head of City Council in Florence) and Sonia Perini (Head of Peace Committee at Florence Municipality), to talk about actions, the environmental laws and advocacy project activities of European Union in the past period. In the meeting, role and importance of European Union in protecting environment of Iraq and Kurdistan was discussed as well, and their supports were appreciated. It is worth saying that, as decision makers in Italy Government, they confirmed their support and assistance to Nature Iraq, advocacy project and Kurdistan Region environment, they promised to do what they can in this regard.
On second day of the visit, the team visited Bilancino Dam (the biggest dam at Florence city) as well as visiting whole departments and the operation process of the dam.
The third day of the visit was dedicated to a meeting between advocacy project and Water Rights Foundation in Italy that is a partner of the project for some financial issues related to the advocacy project. The objective of this visit was to collect scientific information related to water sources of Florence city, exchange of information and discussion on financial affairs of advocacy project with Water Rights Foundation in Italy.
