Nature Iraq Organization has celebrated the World Migratory Bird Day in the southern marshes of Iraq in Chibaish marsh in the National Park of the Central Marshes, through its Jensen Project for Conserving the Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Central Marshes.
The celebration took place in Nature Iraq's guest house "Mudheef" in Chibayish city on the marshes on May 10th 2015 at 9 am. The participants were from local youth groups and organizations and they have received introductory folders about the WMBD 2015 theme, T-shirts and caps with Jensen Project logo. The celebration began with introduction of Nature Iraq Organization and its partnership with BirdLife International which is represented by their cooperation in executing Jensen Project. The participants have also received some refreshments during the lecture. Then, the lecture turned to talk about the 2015 WMBD theme of migratory birds friendly energy and how to make energy friendly to the migratory birds and the importance of the National Park area to the migratory birds as being within the flyways of many migratory birds. The lecture also talked about the importance of the Convention on Migratory Species with focus on migratory bird. The lecturer also talked about the energy threats to the migratory birds and how to treat them.
Next, another lecture was given about the use of field equipment and how to prepare for a field travel of birdwatching in brief. The lecture highlighted the subjects of field safety equipment and planning for field trips.
The last activity was going out with the participants to the National Park to practice the use of field equipment, birdwatching, and celebrating the occasion by taking some group pictures.
