Azzam Alwash

CEO of Nature Iraq​

Helped develop the KBA program and participated in many surveys. The 2015 winner of the Goldman Environmental Prize, Dr. Alwash has been featured in many media articles, including segments in NBC’s “60 Minutes” and PBS’s “Nature” programs. Azzam speaks fluent English and Arabic.

Jassim al-Asadi

The Managing Director of the Chibaish office of Nature Iraq

Was born in the depths of the central marshes of the Southern Iraq, with a passion for nature since his childhood and remains a close friend to its local communities. Jassim participated in all of the KBA surveys in southern Iraq. Jassim speaks fluent Arabic.

Hana Raza

Is a biologist working in the conservation of Iraq's wildlife with the main focus on northern Iraq (Kurdistan Region). She was the team leader of the Kurdistan section of the Key Biodiversity Areas Inventory for Iraq from 2011-2013. Hana speaks fluent English and Kurdish. [email protected]

Office Manager for the Head of the Kurdistan Environmental Protection and Improvement Board.​


Office Manager for the Head of the Kurdistan Environmental Protection and Improvement Board. He holds a bachelor degree in Soil and Water from College of Agriculture at Salahaddin University/Erbil. He received a Master’s degree on Oil and Gas Management in 2015-2016 from Coventry University-UK. He has participated in many national and international conferences and workshops related to health, safety and environment in oil and gas industry. He is a member of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers. Sarkawt speaks fluent Kurdish and English.
